![]() Knowing Adam, I imagined the course was getting through overgrown bushes in his Santa Cruz mountains, but was actually pleased to discover it wasn't the case at all. It's the first year I actually manage to do these 4 "Fat Ass 50K" training runs: Saratoga, Fremont, 2nd Saratoga, and this one in Los Gatos, set up and directed by Adam and Sean. I actually thought that I was going to miss this 4th fat ass 50K in our area this year because of a trip to Riyadh, but this one got postponed a few weeks. Pruneyard has offices, stores, restaurants, and a film theater.A quick report as I'm pressed by time, having returned from the East Coast last night for a few days in town before flying again to Dubai on Friday. ![]() The access point is situated at the northwest corner of the building, behind the car park. Next, the trail passes through the back of the Pruneyard Shopping Center in Campbell. There is a parallel single-track mountain bike path on the east side of the creek between the trail and the freeway. The trail is present on either side of the creek from Campbell Park south to the bridge just north of San Tomas Expressway. Downtown Campbell is just a three block walk west of the Campbell Avenue Trail. The trail is passing through Campbell Park. At this point, the bike / pedestrian bridge across Highway 17 connects to the trail. The attractions of this park include fishing, a casting pond, and a dog park. After driving on Highway 85, the next trail leads to Los Gatos Creek County Park. The trail parallels the east side of the lake and goes up and down the dam. Attractions in this pair of parks include the Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad and the T33 aircraft that children can crawl on. Next, the trail passes through Oak Meadow Park and Vasona Park. 250 yards north, there is an access point and a parking lot with a few spaces for the trail next to a small park north of the Old Town that can be accessed through Miles Avenue. First, there’s an entry point right behind the shopping area of Old Town. The trail is paved from this point to the north. It crosses from east to west of Highway 17 through a dedicated bridge. The trail passes the Forbes Mill of 1854, which houses a museum of history. ![]() When the trail enters downtown Los Gatos, the first entry point is the Main Street Bridge. The first half mile provides a substantial decrease in elevation. There is a mile marker on the Los Gatos Creek trail, with a mile zero marker located approximately 100 feet (30 m) north of the Alma Bridge Road trail. There is a small amount of parking available at Novitiate Park and at the end of Jones Road. The Jones and Flume trails connect with Novitiate Park and St. The northern section of this path is for pedestrians just as windy and goes down to the level of the stream in a few areas. The eastern section is the Jones Trail near the reservoir that leads to the Flume Trail. The section of the trail on the west side of the creek is the Los Gatos Creek Trail, a smooth, broad, unpaved trail on the old rail bed. ![]() There are two roads between the Lexington Reservoir and downtown Los Gatos. On site parking is available along with restrooms and a drinking faucet. North, the trail takes you to Oak Meadow Park and Vasona County Park (1.2 miles). On street parking only.Ī paved trail which leads you south to Old Town, to access the Lexington Reservoir/Dam trail. Northward the trail heads towards Forbes Mill, the footbridge, Old Town, Vasona and on to San Jose. Joseph’s Hill Open Space Preserve to the south. The Los Gatos segment of this trail has several access points:Ī wide dirt trail that leads to Lexington Reservoir (1.8 miles) or the St. The trail passes through several jurisdictions and is maintained by the City of Los Gatos, the Santa Clara Park Department, the City of Campbell, and the City of San Jose.
